Satisfied Customer

Dear Quality Air / Home Depot,

I would like to let you know how pleased I am with my new Trane Heating and A/C system. My system was installed in November of 2008. I waited this long to write because I wanted to report on the improved performance of both the heating over the winter and the cooling over the summer. Prior to this system we were never able to keep the entire house at a comfortable temperature. We used to wear sweaters and jackets with the heat so low once the pipes froze because we feared the utility bills. We hadn't used the old A/C for the last couple of years because even after repairs it would run continuously without cooling. So we gave up on it because the bills were too high. This is no longer the case. Our new system keeps the house at a nice even comfortable temperature and the utility costs are now bearable. Its hard to estimate but I think the gas usage is down to about the same usage when the outside temp is about 6 or 8 degrees lower. The electric usage seems way lower than comparison to the usage on the old system. This means we can actually run the A/C and be comfortable and afford the bills. Woohoo, something we have never experienced in this house.

I would like to commend the designers and installers of the system. The fact that my utility room is in the center of my house and I only have a crawl space made it a challenge to install a 95% efficient unit. Most other contractors were not willing to install anything other than an 80% efficient unit. The ones that would entertain my insistence for a more efficient unit either wanted an exorbitant amount of money or wanted to cut unsightly holes and leave exposed pipes and venting throughout the house. The method of installation that Marc and Tom came up with was very clean and it was all to spec as Marc found an approved Trane design drawing to handle my unusual crawlspace ventilation requirement. The installers executed the design to perfection. They fixed old vents and installed some new vents with quality and precision bar none. Any and all problems or concerns that I had were addressed to my complete satisfaction. Everyone was extremely professional and courteous. The entire experience was the best service I have ever encountered in my 23 years of home ownership.

I want to give a special thanks to Marc Weiss. I don't know how to thank him enough for going the extra mile and beyond for me. He showed up at my house after I had called Home Depot with an urgent request for a comparison quote. By the time he had gotten there I had already been bullied through extremely high pressure sales to purchase a system that I did not want to purchase by the installers of my previous system. I was suspicious that many of the things they were telling me were not true. They were unwilling to sit down and discuss my options. They just kept insisting that what they were giving me was the best price and the best system with nothing to back those claims. I had called a couple of friends to see if the price sounded reasonable and it did not. Marc stuck with me all morning to make sure that I was completely informed of what my options were and what they were intending to give me compared to what I really needed and wanted. When I think back on it, I am embarrassed at how I almost fell prey to being duped into a low end system for a high end price. I would have made a really expensive mistake had Marc not helped me stand up for myself and help me exercise my legal right to decline this lower end system. After this we sat down and discussed various additional issues that I wanted to address in a new system. Even after spending many hours explaining his companies equipment offerings he welcomed the opportunity for me to take my time and get other estimates and compare his offerings with others. I spent a week with 5 other contractors, both independent and large companies, to see if they could design and install a system that compared in quality and performance to what Home Depot / Quality Air was offering at a comparable price. They were all 15-30% higher in price and non of them could offer installation the way I wanted to do it through the crawlspace and not by cutting throigh living space walls.

Thank You,
Thank You,
Quality Air for being committed to making me a satisfied customer.
You succeeded.

P.S. One other thing... Both the heater blower motor and compressor fan are amazingly quiet. The utility room is across the hallway from my bedroom and the compressor is not too far away from the bedroom window. The old system used to sound like a rocket engine. I don't hear a thing in this new system. It's so quiet. The heater is a multistage variable speed XV95 and the Compressor is an XR15.
